Had the same problem as Mac users, downloaded the driver from Flymaster, and now the message is: GPS access error, Product Read Timeout. Posted: Sun 22:44 UTC Post subject: GPS DUMP Apple Lion OSX 10.8 This is a fairly big forum, don't they check the posts here ? ![]() Maybe a word or two to the Aircotec guys is in order ? One sentence on their web page would have solved this problem a long time ago. That's great! I get a bit frustrated too when you can't get GpsDump to work. Posted: Thu 19:40 UTC Post subject: RE: GPS Dump for Mac? Kharma is given, of course! I wish I could give you 10+! My first post was in january 2009 so it took some time but I´m glad that you finally managed to sort this out, Stein! Posted: Thu 8:30 UTC Post subject: RE: GPS Dump for Mac? I installed the Flymaster Mac Driver and it works !!!! (Hope you are reading this Lars) Posted: Thu 4:24 UTC Post subject: USB driver works !!! This suggests that they use the same chip as the Flymaster. When inspecting its binary contents I see the string "FTDI CDM Driver Installation". I downloaded the "Aircotec USB driver" from their website. You can check this by connecting the GPS and then open the System Profiler. If the XCTrainer uses a different chip, installing this driver wouldn't have helped. The links on my home page reflects this (I wasn't aware that they don't work). Brauniger/Flytec uses the good old Prolific 2303 chip. ![]() Are they doing what Brauniger/Flytec/Flymaster has done by putting a USB-to-serial adapter inside the instrument ? If so, the driver to install on the Mac must match the chip used in the adapter. I didn't know that the XCTrainer used a USB interface. GpsDump opens your selection as a standard serial port, not caring wether it is a true RS232 port or not. I guess this list is updated when you insert the USB-to-serial adapter, but requires the driver to be properly installed. When you execute the "Set COM port" GpsDump searches for serial ports using calls to the OS. For the Garmin models not appearing as external disks GpsDump accesses the USB interface directly. Maybe I was lucky to get working drivers. When I started with GpsDump I installed a driver for a Prolific 2303 adapter I had (driver version 3.00), and one for the adapter used internally by the Flymaster (FTDI driver version 6.00). I have a MacBook with OSX version 10.6.8. I don't understand why this should be so difficult. Posted: Wed 18:35 UTC Post subject: RE: GPS Dump for Mac? Just on the off chance the wind is right and i do get the log points again, how do i separate the flights out,? i have about 40 flights all joined together. It feels like 1995 when i couldn't get my printer to talk to my 386. Posted: Wed 14:46 UTC Post subject: RE: GPS Dump for Mac? Restart your mac and then manually search GPS dump from applications, don't use spotlight. There is something which conflicts with GPS dump. ![]() The fix for this is to ensure no other applications are running in the background. It hangs for about 10 seconds and then said coms timed out. Once you have the drivers sorted you may run into a communication problem once you "read MLR". Posted: Wed 14:16 UTC Post subject: RE: GPS Dump for Mac? Interestingly a friend uses an older XCT which uses the 4 pin round connection on the XCT then to USB (through an adapter I think) and this worked ok.ĭoes ANYONE have a solution for using the XCT with a Mac and GPSdump, I cant change the com port on the computer, only bluetooth is available. I downloaded another driver and still no response. I clicked on the link in Steins (Gpsdump) webpage for the correct driver, the links are not valid. I am still trying different options to get this working. Posted: Wed 4:38 UTC Post subject: XCT, Mac and Gpsdump I try every now and again to see if new drivers will work but have had no success so far, Thats what I ended up doing, bought a Asus ePC, it was less costly than buying the programs and going through the hassle of putting windows on the Mac.
